♥ ♥ My Heart Has Become Able محی الدین ابن العربی

Muhyiddin Ibn 'Arabi

My heart has become able

To take on all forms.
It is a pasture for gazelles,

For monks an abbey.

It is a temple for idols
And for whoever circumambulates it, the Kaaba.
It is the tablets of the Torah
And also the leaves of the Koran.

I believe in the religion
Of Love
Whatever direction its caravans may take,
For love is my religion and my faith.

Ibn al-'Arabi was introduced by his father to the celebrated philosopher Ibn Rushd, who eagerly questioned him about his spiritual experiences. Ibn al-'Arabi describes the interview as follows:

He said, 'How did you find the situation in unveiling and divine effusion? Is it what rational consideration gives us?' I replied, 'Yes and no. Between the yes and the no spirits fly from their matter and heads from their bodies.'

Although Ibn al-'Arabi has often been labelled a pantheist, he was far too subtle a thinker to have subscribed to the doctrine that God is everything and everything is God

    • Mahender Paul Mohyiddin has said it all there....a religion to take on all forms...be it a temple with idols, a church with incense...a mosque with leaves of Qur'aan...if humanity just learns to bathe in love every day, there would be a living heaven on the earth....thanks Jawaid for this piece ....(peace)....
